a.k.a. Guess who’s back in the motherf***ing house?!
I’m back. After much thought and deliberation and all round laziness I am back from the sabbatical I had taken from blogging.
By sabbatical I mean not being bothered and by blogging I am referring to my 2 posts on my failed blog here.
I say failure because I personally consider it to be such. I was attempting to blog about something that I feel passionately about but am not an expert in and in my opinion it came across as something quite pretentious.
So I’ve gone back to the drawing board and have decided to blog about the things I do know about - being a sysadmin in web based technologies.
Being a sysadmin is a changed role from the days of yore (unless you work in finance and then you’re still in yore - fnar). In fact this tweet from a friend of mines sums things up:

I think death is a little dramatic but the role has definitely evolved from “caretaker of servers” to “Tools provider”. I like to think of sysadmins as being enablers and it’s that aspect that I will hope to capture with my posts.
Things will still be infrequent and I will still be lazy but the posts should be coherent, focussed and useful.
And with that let’s Boldly Go…
